Fans of Donald Trump were concerned as Steve Witkoff revealed a time that the US President "had a tear in his eye" live on air. The special envoy for peace missions reflected on the time when Trump met with released hostages - a moment that was caught on camera.

He told Fox News star Lara Trump, who is also the President's daughter-in-law, about the emotional occasion. He said: "I saw a tear in you father-in-law's eye, but he doesn't like people knowing that, it makes him a softie. But he was emotional. And why? Because none of them were going to come home, without him." Mr Witkoff continued: "He came up to me and said to me 'I think this is the most emotional, spiritual day I've had in the White House in all my years'. This moment, seeing the hostages and their sense of gratitude. I don't think any of them felt under a different administration they would get home. I'm happy for him." He continued: "He sets the table. I'm not just saying it, he really does. We walk in the room and we have an edge just because we work for him.

"He gives you that ability to execute on his behalf and it's a very effective diplomatic stategy."

Fans were quick to comment on the clip, which was shared to social media. Posting on X/Twitter, one fan shared a hug emoji followed by an applauding one.

Another person wrote: "Great vignette with insights into a Great President's soul," while a third praised: "Greatest President of my lifetime!"

However, one more fumed: "Yeah right. This is just a Trump Media stunt. Crying for attention as always."

Earlier today, Sky News was halted to bring a huge update from the American President.

Trump has announced that he will raise global tariffs from 10% to 15% on countries "many of which", he claims, have been "ripping off the US for decades".

The news channel shared that Trump had posted the announcement to social media, on Truth Social, as he stated the changes would be "effective immediately".

The president said that the decision has been made based on a thorough review of the US Supreme Court's "extraordinarily anti-American decision" to strike down his sweeping tariffs.

He wrote: "During the next short number of months, the Trump Administration will determine and issue the new and legally permissible tariffs, which will continue our extraordinarily successful process of Making America Great Again - GREATER THAN EVER BEFORE!!!"
