Death in Paradise star Ben Miller played DI Richard Poole for over two series before his character was tragically killed off at the beginning of series three.
The detective was killed at a reunion by one of his former university friends, and Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall) was soon called in to help solve the crime.
Over the years, Death in Paradise has seen many detectives come and go. After Ben, Kris Marshall took over until his character decided to follow his love, Martha Lloyd (Sally Bretton), back to London.
Soon after, Ardal O'Hanlon took over as Detective Jack Mooney, before Ralf Little, the show's longest-serving detective, replaced him as Neville Parker.
Don Gilet is the show's current detective, playing DI Mervin Wilson.
Ben, who went on to star in ITV's Professor T following his exit, has always been vocal about his decision to leave the BBC series set in the Caribbean.
He decided to leave the role in 2014 because he wanted to save his relationship, and he was about to become a father.
"Two weeks after I arrived in the Caribbean, Jessica found out that she was pregnant," he revealed to Digital Spyt "I've just got divorced, and I've finally met somebody, and now I'm on the other side of the world, and we're having a baby.
"That's a proper curveball to be on the end of. So I knew what I had to do to get my wife back - quit Death in Paradise!"
Despite his pretty conclusive ending on Death in Paradise, Ben made a return for the 10th-anniversary celebrations.
The actor jumped at the chance to return to the show as he has "unfinished business" with the character, who appeared as a hallucination with his former colleague Camille Bordey (Sara Martins).
Speaking in another interview about his exit, Ben admitted, "It's never nice to be murdered".
He said, "It's a spooky thing. People treat you in a weird way when you're getting murdered in something."
Death in Paradise is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
