New Delhi. The name of veteran Hindi cinema actress Madhubala is still considered an epitome of glamor and beauty. Born on 14 February 1933 in Delhi, Mumtaz Jahan (Delhi, Mumtaz Jehan) Dehlavi i.e. Madhubala (Dehlavi—better known as Madhubala) not only ruled the industry in her career through acting but also with her beauty and style. This actress, who charged more fees than the hero in her time, is still present in the hearts of her fans.

Not only Bollywood but also Hollywood directors wanted to give Madhubala an opportunity to work with them. To work with him, none other than Oscar-winning director Frank Capra sent him an offer for big budget films in America. This offer was considered a big achievement for that time, because it was not easy for foreign actors to get leading roles in Hollywood so quickly.

But Madhubala rejected this big opportunity. He put his country and values first. In an interview, Madhubala had said that this decision was not easy for her, but real success is not just in glamor or money, but also in one’s decisions and principles. This was the reason why he left behind Hollywood dreams and chose Indian cinema.

It would not be wrong to say that at that time foreign magazines had also presented Madhubala as a global star. In his 22-year career, he worked in about 70 films, which include superhit films like ‘Neel Kamal’, ‘Mahal’, ‘Phagun’, ‘Howrah Bridge’, ‘Kala Paani’ and ‘Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi’.

Madhubala’s life was no less than a film story. His health began to deteriorate in the 1960s. Upon examination, it was found that there was a hole in his heart. Unfortunately, Madhubala left the world on 23 February 1969 at the age of just 36, but her name and art are still immortal in the history of Indian cinema.
