On Thursday, Manik Saha, the chief minister of Tripura, said that the BJP administration is dedicated to conserving the rich customs and culture of the indigenous people and emphasized the need to showcase them nationally.
Speaking at the Tripuri Cultural and Food Festival here on Thursday night, the chief minister said that Narendra Modi had created a distinct department for Janjati concerns after taking office as prime minister and has been concentrating on the northeast.
According to Saha, the Tripura government has implemented several programs for the holistic development of the Janjati (tribal) people and has been striving for their welfare and advancement.
Preserving the indigenous people’s culinary customs, culture, and traditions is the primary goal of such events (the Cultural and Food Festival). Indigenous people have a wide range of dances, as we all know. I go throughout Tripura a lot and get to see the rich culture and tradition of the indigenous people, which we need to present to the nation,” he remarked.
The chief minister said that the Tribal Welfare Department was renamed the Janjati Kalyan Department by the Tripura administration and that despite several governments ruling the state, the former Tripuran rulers were never given the respect they deserved.
According to him, the state administration has recommended to the Center that the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) be renamed the Tipra Territorial Council and that the District Council’s seat count be increased from 28 to 50.
Additionally, we designated twelve blocks as aspirational blocks. According to the Chief Minister, PM Modi has always said that the growth of Janjati communities is essential to the development of a state or nation.
Additionally, he said that the current state administration is very considerate of the Janjati people’s demands.
“We are adamant about taking action. We are trying to install CCTV cameras, sanitary pad vending machines, internet access, and modernize the Janjati dormitories,” he said.
The inauguration event was also attended by Janjati Kalyan Minister Bikas Debbarma, Maharani Tulsibati Welfare Trust President Bipin Debbarma, former Minister and MLA Rampada Jamatia, and BJP State President and Rajya Sabha member Rajib Bhattacharya.
