A retailer has shared the cheapest for young drivers to get for whilst also offering plenty of features and attractive styling.

Whilst passing their driving test can be an exciting time for young motorists, the eye-watering can limit their choice for their first car.

However, Swansway Motor Group highlighted that one of the for young drivers is the , a tiny city car that is typically in the lowest insurance group thanks to it's small 1.0-litre engine.

They explained: "The Volkswagen Up! is an for new drivers, aiming to keep insurance costs manageable. With its compact design and efficient 1.0-litre petrol engine, this model often lands in the lowest insurance groups.

"It's perfect for urban driving, offering both Bluetooth connectivity and a surprisingly roomy interior for such a compact car."

A similarly-sized model that Swansway Motor Group also recommended for young drivers is the Peugeot 108, which was also branded as the Citroen C1 and Toyota Aygo.

Built from 2014 to 2022, the Peugeot 108 and its spinoffs featured a particularly reliable 1.0-litre Toyota engine, meaning expensive garage bills are unlikely, and a low insurance band.

It also offers a number of interesting features that set it apart from rivals, with many examples equipped with an automatically folding canvas sunroof.

Swansway Motor Group also praised the SEAT Ibiza, particularly for motorists who want something a little more practical for their first car without high insurance or running costs.

They added: "The SEAT Ibiza strikes a fantastic balance between style and affordability, which is why it's such a popular pick for first-time drivers.

"With the 1.0-litre engine, it sits comfortably in a low insurance group, giving new drivers access to a car that's as practical as it is stylish-without the higher price tag of its rivals."

Finally, the company also suggested that young drivers looking for a refined first car consider a used Skoda Fabia.

Whilst Skoda was once widely regarded as an undesirable budget brand, the Czech company's more recent versions of the Fabia supermini are comfortable, spacious, and surprisingly stylish.

Nevertheless, the majority of Fabias feature the same 1.0-litre petrol engine found in the Volkswagen Up!, making insurance costs affordable.
