New Delhi:- In view of the huge crowd of devotees in Prayagraj during Mahakumbh 2025, preparations have been made on a large scale by the Railways. North Central Railway has introduced a systematic colour-coding scheme for passenger shelters, passenger rest areas at various stations.
Sharing details about the color coding, senior railway officials said that, the initiative aims to improve passenger convenience by streamlining navigation and facilitating better access to designated waiting areas.
Color coded passenger shelters at railway stations
At Prayagraj Junction, Railways has constructed gate no. 1, shelter (red color shelter – towards Lucknow, Varanasi), gate no. 2 (blue color shelter – towards Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay), gate no. 3, (yellow color shelter – towards Manikpur, Satna. , towards Jhansi), Gate No. 4 (Green Shelter – towards Kanpur), has developed station-wise division of color coding.
Similarly, Naini Junction, Gate No. 1 (Green – towards Kanpur), Gate No. 1, (Blue – Manikpur, towards Jhansi), Gate No. 1, (Red – Manikpur, towards Satna), Shelter No. 4B (Yellow – Towards Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay), Shelter No. 4A (Yellow – Towards Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay) Prayagraj Chhivki, Gate 1A, (Red – Manikpur, Railway official said that all basic facilities will be available at each complex to ensure the convenience and safety of passengers.
Officials said that each campus will have facilities like medical aid, 'Can I help you' booths, charging points, food and beverage stalls and clean toilets. The objective of this initiative is not only to provide convenient waiting space for the passengers but also to ensure the safety and timely movement of the devotees to their respective places. Apart from this, Railways will also introduce color coding ticket system to streamline and facilitate the travel of pilgrims during the fair.
According to the railway official, this system will guide passengers to easily reach their train, platform and shelter. The objective of this initiative is to improve crowd management during Maha Kumbh-2025 and make the journey of passengers more simple and safe. Colored tickets will be used to identify the destination of passengers and clarify their travel route. Each ticket will have a specific color which will help passengers reach the right shelter. This will save the passengers from confusion during the fair and the crowd can be controlled.
Cyber security in Mahakumbh
Special cyber security arrangements have been started for the security of devotees coming from all over the world. To ensure that such a large number of devotees are well informed, the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to use every platform including print, digital and social media. The Culture Ministry said that cyber experts are actively monitoring online threats and investigating gangs taking advantage of platforms like AI and social media.
Infrastructure and Land Digitization
Uttar Pradesh's newest district, Mahakumbh Nagar, is being set up with state-of-the-art facilities in record time. Digitization of land allotment includes online availability of land and facilities through “Maha Kumbh Land and Facility Allotment” site, digital records for over 10,000 institutions including government, social and religious organizations and mapping of land topography with high accuracy. Drone surveys conducted before and after monsoon are included.
lost and found service
According to the Cultural Ministry, for the first time, hi-tech lost and found registration centers are being set up in collaboration with the state police department. The aim of these centers is to reunite lost pilgrims with their families.
online accommodation booking
The Cultural Ministry said that online booking for stay in Mahakumbh Gram will be open from January 10 to February 28. Reservations can be easily made through the IRCTC website, additional information is available on both the IRCTC and Department of Tourism websites and the Mahakumbh mobile application.
