Arsene Wenger would likely be a fan of Arsenal making a move for Karim Benzema.
The Gunners are in the market for a striker, with Kai Havertz struggling for goals and Gabriel Jesus injured. The Brazilian is set to be ruled out for the rest of the season in the tie with .
With hoping to mount a title challenge, . Alexander Isak is thought to be their top target for the long-term, but a move for the star until at least the summer.
That means that an alternative option will have to be found, if Arteta is to boost his ranks this month. Manchester United legend believes Benzema, currently playing for side Al-Ittihad, would be the perfect option.

That would be a move that would likely earn Wenger's backing. The Frenchman tried to sign Benzema multiple times during his spell as manager, with the legendary boss a huge fan of the striker.
"He played the game based on passing and connections, so he was an ideal player up front," Wenger said in 2021. "He’s a striker who makes people around him better and sometimes you have strikers who score goals but they make players around them worse. He’s not one of them. If you put Benzema in the team, I would want to play with him."

Benzema has scored 13 goals in 12 appearances in all competitions this season, though there have been frequent reports that he is unsettled in Saudi. Current Arsenal boss Arteta has made it clear he wants to bring in a new forward.
"We are actively looking in the market to improve the squad, and that’s been the same since day one. It would be naive not to do that because it is always an opportunity to evolve the team and improve the squad, especially with the circumstances," he said earlier this week.
"So yes, we are looking and we are trying and let's see what we are able to do. We have to believe that if we bring someone in, it has to make us better. In any position, because we have other issues as well.
"We need to understand that a player can bring a lot to the team in different ways. It’s not just about one player, because there’s not one player [in the ] who can guarantee that.
