You must have seen and heard the work of building embankments with the help of soil, geo bags and boulder pitching. But now with the new technology in Bhagalpur, the Water Resources Department will get the damaged dam repaired in Ismailpur-Bind Toli. Bihar can never forget the scene of devastation caused by floods. At the same time, in Bhagalpur district too, both rivers 'Ganga and Kosi' bring danger to the lives of people with their behavior. Due to the erosion of river Ganga due to last year's flood, Ismailpur Bind Toli embankment in Gopalpur of Navgachia had collapsed to a distance of 142 meters near Budhuchak village. At that time, the Water Resources Department had somehow stopped the flow of water.

The Water Resources Department is working to repair the dam with new technology. The 142 meter embankment that collapsed due to erosion of the Ganga between touch points seven and eight will be connected through seat piling. The Water Resources Department has issued a tender worth Rs 38 crore for this work. The Water Resources Department has set a target to complete the work to repair the cut portion by March. After the approval under the Technical Advisory Committee and SRC, the department has started the tender process.

142 meter dam was demolished

Giving information in this regard, an official of Navgachia Flood Control Office said that this work will be done in the 142 meter long portion of the cut embankment. Besides, work will also be done in 208 meter and 120 meter width. Along with this, cold piling work will be done from the river side. After its completion, the water of river Ganga will not create pressure on the embankment. Besides, boulder pitching work will also be done on that cut area. So that Bind Toli village can be saved.

Repair will be done at a cost of Rs 15 crore

The dam in Bind Toli of Ismailpur was repaired in 2024 itself at a cost of Rs 15 crore but it could not withstand the water pressure. In this incident, houses of dozens of people were destroyed and Ganga water entered more than half a dozen villages. About 142 meters of the dam was washed away in the strong current of river Ganga, causing massive damage. Now the repair work with new technology has become a new hope for the people of Bind Toli.
