The upcoming episodes will introduce a fresh face, Anneika Rose, who will portray a new character named Lucy - a character set to face escalating pressure in the unfolding storylines, reports .
If you're unfamiliar with Anneika, fear not! Here's all you need to know about the actor.
BackgroundAnneika hails from Glasgow's West End, where she grew up alongside her five siblings and her family has roots in Sri Lanka.
She attended an all-girls school before honing her acting skills at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. While Anneika prefers to keep her personal life under wraps, it's known that she resides with her partner and their two young children.
TheatreAnneika's rise to fame began in the theatre . She gained recognition through her performances in the Royal Shakespeare Company's productions of Romeo and Juliet and A Midsummer Night's Dreaming.
She has also showcased her acting prowess in Richard II at the Globe Theatre, as well as The Empress and The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie. Her most recent theatrical endeavour was in Behind the Beautiful Forevers at the National Theatre in 2021.
Anneika's transition to television began in 2010 with a role in the Scottish detective drama Taggart. Since then, she has made appearances in a string of popular TV shows, including Ackley Bridge, The Cry, Deadwater Fell, and Crossfire.
However, it's her roles in Line of Duty and Shetland that have garnered the most attention. Notably, she played PC Farida Jatri in Line of Duty's fourth season and reprised the role in season six.
Her character was framed by corrupt officer DCI Joanne Davidson (Kelly Macdonald) for leaking information to the Organised Crime Group (OCG), but the charges were eventually dropped.
A year later, she joined the cast of Shetland, having recently given birth to her second child.
In an interview with The Sunday Post, Anneika previously credited her theatre background and relatively late transition to television as part of her learning experience: "I feel like most of what I have learned comes from sitting quietly! Really, it's sitting quietly on set and taking in what other people are doing and the technicality of everything that's going on."
She attributed her success to working alongside talented individuals, saying, "And I've been really lucky I've got to work with these great people."
Silent Witness airs on BBC One on Mondays at Tuesdays at 9pm
