She was also by her husband's side eight years ago ahead of his first four years in power. Body language expert claims Melania exhibited different behaviour at Mr Trump's second inauguration, which took place at The Rotunda in Washington DC.

"Melania's body language during the 2025 inauguration is still and neutral," Inbaal said. "She sits still in her model pose, her facial expression neutral, not drawing any attention to herself, letting all attention be on her husband."

The expert claimed Melania appeared more "friendly" before, adding: "In comparison, Melania of 2017 flashed smiles and waved around, displaying a more friendly persona to the crowds."

For the occasion, along with a pair of suede Manolo Blahnik heels and black leather gloves.

But the main talking point was Melania's large, navy, wide-brimmed hat with a flat top and white trimming. Inbaal believes the former model wore the accessory to "hide" her facial expression, having been criticised in the past.

The expert said: "Melania's face is naturally neutral. She doesn't have an expressive demeanour in general, and has previously been criticised for having short-lasting smiles, which she must have known.

"This inauguration's Melania was protected from criticism by hiding her expression behind a wide-brimmed hat, so that she could keep her neutral expression with no issue."

ahead of the swearing-in ceremony as he leaned in to give his wife a kiss before seemingly deciding against it at the last moment.

Inbaal declared that Mr Trump is "unsure" of how to be affectionate with his wife, concluding that the couple "don't respond naturally" to each other.

"He's clearly unsure how to show affection towards his wife in the presence of her impressive hat, but neither of them attempts to solve the situation," she said.

The body language expert continued: "Trump may have wanted to demonstrate marital bliss in greeting his missus with a kiss when he walked in, but their uncertain interaction ended up showing that they don't respond naturally to one another."
