How Long Does It Take to Get a Tatkal Passport?The usual processing time for a regular passport ranges from 20 to 45 days. In contrast, a Tatkal Passport is issued much faster. However, you must provide a valid reason for the urgency, such as education, medical treatment, or participation in an international event.
Once your application is accepted and the status reads "Granted", the passport is dispatched within three working days. Unlike the regular process, where police verification occurs before issuance, the Tatkal scheme allows for police verification post-issuance. Typically, the entire process is completed within 7 to 14 days.

What Are the Fees for a Tatkal Passport?- A regular 36-page passport costs ₹1,500.
- A 36-page Tatkal Passport is priced at ₹3,500.

Note: Children below 8 years and senior citizens receive a 10% discount on regular passports, but no concessions are available for Tatkal Passports.
