The intention of Kanpur Development Authority to provide flats to the general public in the budget was not coming to fruition for years. The biggest reason behind this was that KDA had built flats, but there were zero facilities. This was the reason why people either did not buy KDA flats or surrendered them. The situation has become such that more than 7000 thousand KDA flats are lying vacant in the city. Now Kanpur Development Authority has prepared an action plan and started the effort to provide all facilities in the flats.
There are a dozen small and big schemes of Kanpur Development Authority, where flats have been built. A total of about 11,100 flats have been built in these schemes, out of which about 63% of the flats are lying vacant. If we leave aside KDA's Signature Green project, people do not want to live in the flats built in Shatabdi Nagar and Jahavarpuram. The main reason for this is the lack of basic facilities.
Like bad roads, dirt, water, electricity problems and dilapidated flats. This was the reason why whatever efforts KDA made to sell the vacant flats, were of no use. The prices of the flats were frozen. The scheme of giving possession on deposit of 25 to 50 percent amount was also implemented, but to no avail. Despite registration, many buyers surrendered their flats.
Kanpur Development Authority has now become serious about these projects. KDA is going to increase the facilities in its flats scheme. Now the potholes of broken roads will be filled here. Along with road divider, green belt, electricity system will also be repaired. For this, KDA has prepared a budget of more than Rs 11 crore.
Where there is no street light on the main road, lights will be installed. The dilapidated road will be repaired. In KDA Dreams project, even the divider and main gate are not proper, that will also be rectified. Apart from this, other electrical works will also be done. If all these works are done then it is expected that people will be able to buy their dream homes in the budget.
