HRA is given according to different cities

Employees working in KVS get different HRA (House Rent Allowance) depending on the cities they live in. HRA rates are different for X, Y and Z category cities. For example:

- HRA in X city (cities with a population of more than 50 lakhs) will be at least Rs 5400.

- HRA in Y city (cities with a population of 5 to 50 lakhs) will be Rs 3600.

- HRA in Z city (cities with a population of less than 5 lakhs) will be Rs 1800.

Apart from this, HRA for X cities is 24% of the basic salary, for Y cities it is 16%, and for Z cities it is 8%.

These cities are categorised on the basis of population:

- X cities: Large cities like Bengaluru, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Chennai and Kolkata.

- Y cities: Cities with a population of 5 to 50 lakhs like Chandigarh, Jaipur, Lucknow and Nagpur.

- Z cities: Cities with a population of less than 5 lakhs like small and medium cities.
