LONDON London. Manchester City has officially started the process of signing its players for the year 2025. The reigning champions of the English Premier League are struggling to keep themselves in the race for the prestigious title. City FC have made their first move in a busy transfer window after signing 20-year-old centre-back star Abdukodir Khusanov from Lens for an initial fee of 40 million euros ($41.5 million). City took the plunge with the Uzbekistani footballer and bought him for a huge sum. But who is Khusanov? Let's find out some information about the 20-year-old footballer.

Manchester City have signed Uzbekistan central defender Abdukodir Khusanov from Ligue 1 side Lens on a four-and-a-half-year deal. Khusanov, 20, has played in 13 of Lens's 16 league games this season. The centre-back striker is the first player from Uzbekistan to feature in the English Premier League. Khusanov was born in Tashkent and played football with local club Bunyodkor before moving to Belarusian club Energetic-BGU. He played 37 matches for the club, after which he moved to French club Lens, where he played 31 matches. The 20-year-old Uzbek player was born on February 29, 2004, so he is a rare personality. Abdukodir Khusanov emerged as a prodigious player and has played more national matches than his father Khikmat Khoshimov, who is also a footballer. The Premier League club decided to bet big on their first signing of the January transfer window as they have struggled with injury problems at centre-back this season, with Ruben Dias, John Stones and Nathan Ake all sidelined. Had to stay. Even Spain midfielder and Ballon d'Or winner Rodri has been ruled out of the season with an ACL injury, which is the biggest blow for City.

Following the signing of Abdukodir Khusanov, Manchester City FC acquired a second defender to deal with their injury problems. This time, they have bought 19-year-old Vitor Reis from Palmeiras for 35 million euros ($36 million). The length of Reus's contract is unknown. Reis was a Brazil under-17 international and made 22 first-team appearances for Palmeiras.
