People online have been left confused by a Tesco car park sign sporting a big blunder.
Cast your memory back to those days cramming the Highway Code, trying to memorise all the signs, guidelines, and road paint - because this sign has been criticised for being "unnecessarily confusing." Getting to grips with isn't just about perfecting your brakes or steering.
You've got to be savvy with a whole host of signs and symbols if you're hoping to ace your theory test. When users got a glimpse of a particular car park sign, they were quick to highlight how odd it is.
Posting in the Casual UK subreddit, someone shared a photo of the signage stating: "No parking at any time" in big, bold letters. Below that, in tinier print, it reads: "This car park is controlled by ANPR cameras and/or attendant patrols. A Parking Charge Notice of £70 may be issued in the following circumstances: parking in no parking areas, obstructive parking."
The baffled user captioned the post: "Kind of defeats the whole point of a car park surely? " The post snagged 555 upvotes and a bunch of comments.
One person quipped: "This sign is unnecessarily confusing. At first glance it would look like the is permanently closed and they don't want anyone parking there ever. Is that right?"
One user chimed in, saying: "It appears to be at the end of a row of parking bays, and facing away from them. I'd bet there's a hatched bay or lines painted at the base of the sign indicating that the sign relates to that specific area."
Another person said: "It's a bad way of telling you that the sign in the middle of this one (the blue circle containing a P with a cross through it) means you can't park in those areas at any time." Meanwhile, another confused user added: "Why is there no parking areas in a car park?
"And why do they need a sign to say not to obstruct others? What area is the sign referring to? What area is safe? It literally looks like it's just saying don't park in the car park."
The thread continued with remarks including, "It's worded rather confusingly though", "someone made that sign and didn't think to question the big bold message", and "the sign says no parking in no parking areas and no obstructive parking but yeah it could be clearer."
Tesco has been contacted for a statement.
