According to the Karnataka police on Monday, a charge under the Prevention of SC/ST Atrocities Act was filed against Senapathy Kris Gopalakrishnan, a co-founder of Infosys; former Director Balaram of the Indian Institute of Science (IISc); and sixteen other people. The police said that the complaint was filed in accordance with the 71st City Civil and Session Court’s (CCH) directives.
According to PTI, the police filed a complaint at the Sadashiva Nagar police station after a man claimed that he had been wrongfully removed from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) by its administration. He said that he was fired from the institution where Kris Gopalakrishnan serves on the Board of Trustees after being wrongfully implicated in a honey trap case.
The complainant, Durgappa, who is a member of the indigenous tribe, said that the institute’s officials had made disparaging statements about him. According to Durgappa, he taught at the institute’s Centre for Sustainable Technology. According to his claims, he was fired from the services in 2014 after being wrongfully implicated in a honey trap case.
Additionally, he claimed that he was the victim of a conspiracy by the government to remove him from his faculty position. According to the article, he also claimed that the authorities intimidated him and used casteist slurs.
Govindan Rangarajan, Sridhar Warrier, Sandya Vishwswaraih, Hari KVS, Dasappa, Balaram P, Hemalata Mhishi, Chattopadyaya K, Pradeep D Sawkar, and Manoharan are among the other people against whom the complaint has been filed in addition to Gopalakrishnan. All of them are charged with harassing and threatening the complainant during the services.
One of the co-founders of Infosys, Gopalakrishnan was the company’s vice chairman from 2011 until 2014. From 2007 until 2011, he served as the company’s managing director and CEO. Kris Gopalakrishnan and the IISc faculty have not yet responded to the accusations.
