Maeraa Misshra , who got engaged to dermatologist Rajul Yadav on April 24 last year in Delhi, is set to tie the knot on February 21 in the capital. The couple has planned a 15-day honeymoon in Europe. The actress, best known for her portrayal of Malishka Bedi in Bhagya Lakshmi , has taken a break from the show after being a part of it for three-and-a-half years, as she wants to spend quality time with her husband and his family.
She shares, “Yes, I am taking a short break from acting. I want to take some time for myself to enjoy and adjust to married life. Rajul and I had a long-distance relationship, and I now want to live with his family after the wedding instead of shuttling between Mumbai and Delhi. I plan to take a three-month break to focus on this new chapter.”
Initially, Maeraa had planned to relocate post-marriage, balancing her career by taking on limited-format shows and freelancing in the interior and makeup industries in Delhi. However, those plans have changed, as she reveals, “Rajul’s grandmother, who is incredibly sweet and supportive, encouraged me to continue working. We discussed the possibility of dividing my time equally between Delhi and Mumbai, spending half the month in each city. The production house has also been open to the idea of me returning to Bhagya Lakshmi as Malishka.”
While the actress hopes to return to Bhagya Lakshmi after the short break, the makers have finalised Megha Prasad to step into her shoes. Whether Maeraa will return to the daily soap or not, only time will tell. However, in an exclusive conversation with us about joining the show as the new Malishka Bedi, Megha told us, “During my audition, the creative team was unsure whether to retain Malishka’s original traits or introduce new characteristics. Now that I’ve stepped into the role, I aim to strike a balance—preserving aspects of what Maeraa established while adding my own flavour. I’ve been watching previous episodes and preparing to fully grasp Malishka’s essence. As an artiste, my goal is to carry the character forward while making it uniquely mine, blending the foundation Maeraa laid with my own distinctive touches.”
