Mumbai: The Ahilyanagar police have registered a case against four social media users for circulating child pornography content or Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) on Instagram.

According to police sources, the cyber department (Mumbai) recently shared information with the Ahilyanagar cyber crime police about receiving information from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), which was in turn informed by the US-based NGO National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children’s (NCMEC).

The information, which contained the username, IP address and linked email IDs, stated that the suspects were from the Ahilyanagar area and the content was circulated through Instagram, the sources said.

The police have registered a case under section 67B (punishment for publishing or transmitting material depicting children in sexually explicit acts, etc., in electronic form) of the Information Technology Act and have launched an investigation to trace the suspects.
