Tobago, the smaller of the two Caribbean islands comprising the nation of Trinidad and Tobago, is best-known for its idyllic beaches and crystal waters, as well as tropical rain forests.

The island is must-visit for sun worshippers, with baking weather all year. Given its proximity to the equator, its temperatures are faily consistent.

During its cooler months - December and January - the mercury will drop to 27C on average. But it's steamier periods - April and May - aren't much hotter, with an average temperature of 30C.

Getting there isn't cheap, but if you shop around you won't have to break the bank either. In February, flights from London to Tobago and can be found at £426 return.

What is there to see in Tobago? Pigeon Point Beach is perhaps the most loved beach on the island. Found jutting out into the turquoise blue sea, Pigeon Point Beach is located on the south-western tip of the island.

It's popular for those seeking the classic Caribbean holiday experience. It's got a white sandy beach, gorgeous views and plenty of water-based activities to get involved with.

Argyle Waterfall is another firm favourite. It's found in an area of the island called Scarborough and people can walk along the line of the waterfall and swim in the pool below.

One visitor said: "The Argyle Waterfall is refreshing and scenic. The hike to the falls is manageable and enjoyable, surrounded by tropical foliage and bamboo. The waterfall itself is stunning, with multiple tiers and a cool pool at the base for swimming.

"Don't forget to bring your camera for some fantastic photo opportunities and water shoes as some of the rocks can be slippery."

Another added: "Breathtakingly beautiful views, first part of the hike is through the stunning rainforest. A fairly easy walk and only about 20mins to the bottom of the mesmerising and incredibly beautiful Argyle Falls. The total hike to the top of the waterfall is over 7 miles!"
