Washington [US], February 1: After spending over four years in a Georgia jail on a number of offenses, including racketeering, rapper YFN Lucci is officially free.

The 33-year-old musician, whose actual name is Rayshawn Lamar Bennett, was freed on Friday, January 31 from Monroe County’s Burruss Correctional Training Center, according to People.

People claimed that the rapper was welcomed by his parents, close friends, and members of his music team, according to a press statement.

“I’ve learned a lot during my time away,” YFN Lucci stated in a statement.

It’s my time to return the favor now. I want to motivate those who look up to me by using my voice, my platform, and my music. I want to demonstrate to them that changing is always possible. This period is about purpose, progress, and atonement for me. According to People, the message also said, “I’m excited there’s so much more to come.”

In 2021, YFN Lucci was charged with many offenses, including racketeering, murder, and assault. The prosecution against him was spearheaded by Fulton County District Attorney Fani T. Willis.

Twelve of his thirteen counts were dismissed as part of a plea agreement. He entered a guilty plea to one count of violating Georgia’s Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, according to his attorneys, who verified this to People. He received a 10-year jail term along with an additional 10-year probationary period. On the basis of time already spent, his legal team had anticipated that he may be freed early.
