February 1, Chennai The renowned filmmaker Gautham Menon has now explained that his remarks on his film Ennai Noki Paayum Thota, which starred Dhanush, had been misunderstood and that the movie was, in fact, his.
It all began when Gautham Menon made fun of his produced and directed movie Ennai “Noki Paayum Thotta” in an interview with a YouTube channel. The filmmaker said, “I forget that film,” in response to a question about the movie. Which movie was it? One of the songs from the movie comes to mind. In a lighthearted manner, he said, “No, not me; somebody else did it,” when told that he was the one who had created it.
On social media, however, a number of individuals concluded that the filmmaker had renounced his own film after taking his remarks at face value.
Gautham Menon has now explained and corrected the record in a different interview with a different YouTube channel.
“I had joked when I said that. I made the movie. You see, that was the one movie that I was unable to really enjoy. Because I had to complete filming in five to ten days instead of twenty, I made a joke about it. However, some misunderstood it and believed Gautham Menon was claiming that the movie was not his at all, Gautham clarified.
“It would have been incorrect if I had said that and this movie had been produced by someone else. But I was the producer of the movie. Naturally, Escape Artists Madan was the producer, but I succeeded him in getting the movie released, which led to my association with Ishari Sir, who requested me to produce three of his pictures. Gautham said, “My statement was not one of disownment, but rather one of lighter tone.”
In response to another query about if he wasn’t happy with the movie, Gautham said, “Yes.” Not at all pleased. I only properly created the first part of the movie. I was only able to create the first half precisely as it appeared on paper. We had several issues throughout the second half. The hero left to film Vada Chennai, so I didn’t have his dates. I was caught in the middle of a conflict between the hero and the producer. I searched for methods to get it done. I could have just left, but I pushed to have the movie released because I think all movies should.
