Hollywood actor Jake Gyllenhaal will work with filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan on his next directing endeavor. According to entertainment news site Deadline, the unnamed movie is a supernatural romance thriller that is based on an original narrative that Shyamalan and best-selling author Nicholas Sparks co-wrote.
Inspired by the same original love tale, Shyamalan and Sparks are working separately on a screenplay and a book, respectively. Though they will be specially tailored to the media, every project will have the same basic idea and characters.
For the first time, Shyamalan will work with a well-known author like Sparks, who is renowned for books like Dear John, The Notebook, A Walk To Remember, and The Choice. The author’s novels, along with several others, have also been made into feature films.
The project’s specifics have not been disclosed. Along with Sparks’ longtime producing partners Marc Bienstock and Theresa Park, Shyamalan and Ashwin Rajan will produce under Blinding Edge Pictures. Warner Bros. and Shyamalan’s Blinding Edge Pictures are negotiating the film’s theatrical distribution.
