Go kart staff and paramedics battled in vain to save the life of a teenager who died while on the track.

The suffered a cardiac arrest and died while on the track at TeamSport Go Karting Stoke in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent on Friday night at around 8.15pm. confirmed the death in a statement released this morning, adding officers found the boy unresponsive after arriving at the scene.

While have confirmed the death is "not suspicious" the service has not released any further details about the incident, nor has it identified the boy, who was in his "late ". But TeamSport has released a statement of its own speaking about the lengths staff and paramedics went to in a desperate bid to save his life.

Representatives for TeamSport Go Karting confirmed a customer was "taken ill" at its Stoke-on-Trent track, and that its staff were involved in trying to help the boy. They said: "It is with sincere regret that we can confirm that a customer was taken ill last night at our Stoke-on-Trent track and despite the best efforts of our crew, first aid team, and the paramedics, he sadly passed away.

"Our deepest sympathies are with the man's family and friends during this incredibly difficult time." Staffordshire Police confirmed that paramedics from the West Midlands Ambulance Service attended the scene alongside its officers after the teenager became unresponsive.

A police spokesman said: "We were called to TeamSport Go Karting Stoke following reports of a cardiac arrest. Paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service were already there and found a man in his late teens unresponsive at the scene. Sadly, he was later pronounced dead.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for HM Coroner. Our thoughts remain with the man’s family at this difficult time." The go karting track in Stoke-on-Trent has since reopened following the incident, with police having previously posted a heavy presence in the area.

Locals said police remained at go kart car park after what they described as a "major incident" with doctors' cars also seen alongside police and ambulances. One neighbour told the Stoke Sentinel at the time: "There appears to be a major incident. There were five police cars, an ambulance, and two doctors' cars. The police remain at the scene."
