The Masked Singer host Joel Dommett has lifted the lid on the unusual way he met his stunning wife, Hannah Cooper.

The presenter rose to fame in 2016 when he was a contestant on Since then, he has gone from strength to strength on the small screen and has hosted a slew of hugely popular TV shows.

This includes the National Television Awards, The Masked Singer and the I'm A Celebrity spin-off show Unpacked. Now, the broadcaster has opened up about how he met his doting wife after he catapulted to stardom in the ITV jungle.

The Gloucestershire star met the mum-of-one when she slid into his DMs with a heart-eyes cat emoji. Cooper, 34, was discovered by a modelling scout at the age of 16 in London.

The TV star admitted that he was "blown away" by how funny Cooper was and revealed that they went on their date just days later. The two love birds got engaged in December 2017 after one year of dating and in May 2019, they revealed that they had purchased their first house together.

Three years later the couple tied the knot in a romantic beach ceremony in 2019 in Mykonos, officiated by their friend and Love Island host Iain Stirling.

Joel has since credited his career success to Cooper - admitting that he thinks he would be a "horrible" person without her. The Masked Singer star reveals he discusses all of his job offers with his model partner, who he claims keeps him feeling "grounded".

Speaking to MailOnline, he gushed: "Hannah is really important for me. I met her at the perfect time. I feel if I didn't meet her when I did, I probably wouldn't be where I am right now and if I was here, I would probably be a horrific human being.

"She keeps me grounded and happy. Without sounding all mushy, you know you have met the one when they make you a better person and Hannah definitely makes me a better person."

Joel also admitted that the couple would love to appear in their own TV show following the success of their podcast, Never Have I Ever.

The TV personality is the latest ITV star to be poached by BBC after he landed a hosting gig on the Survivor UK reboot. The reality TV series, which aired its original UK version on ITV from 2001 to 2002, returned to screens 20 years after being axed.

The presenter is the latest big ITV name to move to over to the BBC alongside Holly Willoughby, Paddy McGuinness and Bradley Walsh. Holly was also being eyed up to host Survivor but Joel bagged the role after revealing he was a huge fan of the original show.

A TV insider told The Sun: "He was offered the job just before Christmas and accepted almost immediately. It is his first BBC primetime role and is a huge leap for him. Holly was his closest competitor but is so busy it was hard for them to make the dates work."

They continued: "Joel was a massive fan of the original series and made that clear when approached. He really impressed with his passion, and work on The Masked Singer and The Masked Dancer."
