Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka has agreed to join Borussia Dortmund on loan.

The 21-year-old was due to fly from Biggin Hill to Paderborn, Germany, on Sunday ahead of his medical on Monday.

The deal will include a buy option higher than his £40m release clause while Dortmund will also cover his salary and pay a loan fee.

Porto had hoped to beat the Bundesliga giants to Chukwuemeka, as Manchester City continue to push for their midfielder Nico Gonzalez.

Chelsea had wanted him to go to Strasbourg on loan initially to continue his development with Liam Rosenior.

However, the former Aston Villa midfielder wanted to play in a stronger league. Everton, West Ham and Juventus had also shown interest.
