Ponman Box Office Collection Day 4: After Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse and Identity failed to reach the budget recovery threshold, Malayalam cinema is now ready to deliver another box office success with Basil Joseph’s Ponman. The dark comedy had a three-day total of Rs 3.83 crore.

Jothish Shankar directed the melancholy comedy, which was reportedly made for a mere 3 crore. The Malayalam film has already grossed over Rs 3 crore despite its little budget.
On Sunday, February 2, the fourth day, Ponman earned Rs 1.23 crore at the box office. During its Saturday premiere, the Malayalam film earned Rs 1.14 crore. In reality, Ponman earned 60.56 percent more than it did the day before, when it barely made 71 lakh.
The fact that Basil Joseph published two volumes in a single month is noteworthy. His most recent film, Pravinkoodu Shappu, had a great start but has struggled to recover its box office budget.
