The process of expansion of Indian Premier League franchise owners in foreign cricket leagues continues. After buying teams in the Caribbean Premier League, SA20, Major League Cricket, and ILT20 League, their scope is now expanding in England as well. England's tournament 'The Hundred' has now become the newest stop. Mukesh Ambani's company Reliance Industries, owner of Mumbai Indians in IPL, recently bought a big team for this tournament. Now Lucknow Super Giants owner Sanjeev Goenka has also entered The Hundred. Goenka's company RPSG has signed an agreement to buy a major stake in this league's famous team Manchester Originals for about Rs 600 crore.

Goenka became the owner of this share

According to an ESPN-Cricinfo report, RPSG Group has won the bid for Manchester Originals, one of the 8 teams of The Hundred. This company owned by Goenka will now completely buy the 49 percent stake of England Cricket Board in this team. According to the report, in the auction, Goenka Group estimated the total value of this team to be around 116 million pounds and won this auction. In this way, now RPSG will have to spend around 54 million pounds i.e. about Rs 610 crore for 49 percent stake.

After buying a stake in Manchester Originals, RPSG will now run the men's and women's teams of The Hundred in association with Lancashire County Cricket Club. Lancashire County has a 51 percent stake in it. All eyes are now on whether the county club sells some of its 51 percent or not. The Goenka Group already owns the Lucknow Super Giants franchise in the IPL, which is the most expensive franchise in the league. RPSG bought this franchise with a bid of around Rs 7092 crore in the auction held in 2021.

Ambani has also bought this team

Apart from this, the group also has the Durban Super Giants franchise in SA20. Now the Goenka Group's family in franchise cricket has spread to three countries. They have become the second IPL franchise to buy a team in The Hundred. Earlier, Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries had bought 49 percent stake in Oval Invincibles for about 61 million pounds. Apart from these two, GMR Group, co-owner of Delhi Capitals, had bought Hampshire County Cricket Club. In such a situation, it is believed that they will also buy a stake in Southern Brave.
