Former academy coach Jack Wilshere has tipped Myles Lewis-Skelly to eventually move from left-back into midfield.

Lewis-Skelly is one of the most promising teenage talents in English football and he has become a regular in 's first team at only 18 years old. The versatile youngster spent much of his youth career in central midfield before finding a route into the senior starting line-up at full-back.

But Wilshere, who himself was a teenage star for the Gunners and made nearly 200 appearances for the club, does not believe Lewis-Skelly will stay in that position forever.

"I don't think he's going to be a left-back, by the way," Wilshere, who is now a first-team coach at Norwich City, while he was still in charge of Arsenal's Under-18s. "He's going to be a midfielder.

"Myles has been at the club since he was nine, I've been here a year. The coaches at Hale End deserve massive credit because him and Ethan [Nwaneri], what they do, how they are able to dominate, manage moments in the game and drive the team is impressive.

"You see certain moments that are not coachable. Only certain players can do that. There's so much more that comes with it, like how he lives.

"He's a top kid, by the way. He has to manage that going forward when he gets a bit more attention. He comes from a great family, which is massive. I know they will steer his journey and be present throughout that. That's so important."

Lewis-Skelly has forced his way into the side this season but his stellar performances have kept him there. He scored his first senior goal in the 5-1 thrashing of Manchester City on Sunday, when he was selected ahead of fellow left-backs Riccardo Calafiori, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Kieran Tierney.

His breakthrough into the first team is not the only example of Arsenal's academy working wonders this campaign. Nwaneri is even younger at 17 years old, but the attacking midfielder is quickly making a name for himself.

Like Lewis-Skelly, Nwaneri got amongst the goals against City and he is already up to seven for the season in all competitions. That leaves him ahead of man Leandro Trossard and only one behind Gabriel Martinelli.
