A group from the German bank KFW visited the Indo-German Global Academy for Agroecology Research and Learning (IGGAARL) and its experimental plots in Vellaturu village of Pendlimarri mandal, YSR district, on Wednesday as part of their tour of natural agricultural areas. The team went to see a farmer called Haripriya, who also serves as a mentor intern, in her natural agricultural areas.
Sangeeta Agarwal, Mark Prein, Anna Berezovskaja, and Servi Nabuurs were among the delegation members who visited the experimental cowpea (bobbarlu) plot grown using the seed pelletization technique. They asked about its advantages in great detail. The farmers then described the benefits of seed pelletization and demonstrated its procedure.
The farmers claim that the seed balls created using this method guarantee seed viability for a maximum of six months. It is particularly ideal for high temperatures, little rainfall, and resistance to pests and diseases since it promotes germination even with very little moisture (as little as 10-15 mm).
Additionally, the party went to the Rythu Seva Kendra in Gangireddipalli, Pendlimarri mandal, where they spoke with the staff, spoke about the services they provide to farmers, and learned about their efforts to promote natural farming.
The event was attended by top officials from RySS Rayudu, G. Muralidhar, Shiva Reddy, IGGAARL Administrative Officer Praveen Kumar, Andhra Pradesh Community Managed Natural Farming (APCNF) District Project Manager Vasantha Kumari, Additional DPM of APCNF, and other staff members.
