The film Thandel, starring Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi, is ready to be released. Prior to its release, the movie has been creating a lot of talk online, particularly when the producer disclosed that it is based on a true tale. Did you know that Thandel is based on a real-life incident when Pakistani police captured Indian fishermen from Andhra Pradesh? All you need to know is this:
A True Story Inspired by Thandel
Koimoi claims that this tale is grounded in truth and was inspired by the terrifying actual account of Chodipilli Musalayya, a fisherman from the isolated Srikakulam district hamlet of Kunduvanipeta. When Musalayya was one of the 25 unlucky Indian fishermen who were imprisoned in Karachi for a whole year, his life took a dramatic change.
The glaring absence of basic requirements, such as enough food and appropriate clothes, which are essential human rights, made the terrible reality of their incarceration more worse. The narrative is a compelling illustration of the tenacity and hardships of these unsung heroes, who deal with unfathomable obstacles on a daily basis.
A 21-year-old fisherman from Kunduvanipeta, Gujarat, named Chodipilli Musalayya, was imprisoned in Karachi from 2000 to 2002 when he unintentionally ventured into Pakistani seas. Musalayya was cruelly tortured in a Pakistani prison together with twenty-four other fisherman. After more than a year in jail, they were let free.
The Producer of Thandel Explains the Film’s Inspiration
“This true story happened in (a place) near Vizag, in a small village,” Allu Aravind told IANS. For 30 days, people traveled to Gujarat to go fishing. They regrettably crossed foreign boundaries owing to a weather-related issue, only to discover that they had been apprehended and imprisoned by Pakistanis. They spent twenty-two years there. The video tells the narrative of their families in the village, their struggles, and how they overcame hardships to bring them back.
“I’m inspired by 10 lines of the story and we approached those 20 people who stayed in the Pakistani jails, taking rights from all of them,” the producer said. Even though someone wrote the narrative, it took him nine months to develop it and provide me with a suitable narration. When he finally did, I was in complete shock.
Regarding the film, Chandoo Mondeti is the writer and director of the forthcoming Telugu film Thandel, which is an action-packed romantic thriller. The film, which was presented by Allu Aravind and produced by Bunny Vasu under the prestigious Geetha Arts label, has a strong main cast that includes Sai Pallavi and Naga Chaitanya. On February 7, 2025, Thandel is scheduled to open in cinemas, offering viewers an amazing movie experience.
