Upon her return to The One Show, Alex Jones shared a health update with fans.
After missing her regular presenting role earlier in the week due to a severe cough, the 47 year old returned, her voice still somewhat hoarse.
She kicked off the show, "Hello there and welcome to your Thursday One Show live on BBC One and iPlayer with Roman Kemp."
Her co-host Roman Kemp jokingly pointed out her hoarse voice, saying, "And a very croaky Alex Jones." Alex apologised for her condition, stating, "Sorry if I cough through this."
Roman enquired about her well-being, asking, "No it's ok. Are you feeling a lot better?" Alex confirmed her improved health, saying, "I am yes. A lot better", reports .
He then warmly welcomed her back, saying, "It's lovely to have you back." However, it wasn't long before viewers began expressing their concerns about Alex's health on social media. One fan commented on X (formerly Twitter), "Oh Alex's throat sounds sore #TheOneShow."
Another fan posted, "#TheOneShow oh dear Alex doesn't sound well." A third viewer questioned, "Couldn't they have found someone to replace Alex? #TheOneShow."
Alex had recently spoken about the challenges of dealing with flu symptoms while caring for her three children - Teddy, six, Kit, four, and Annie, two - with her husband Charlie Thomson. She shared a makeup-free video on her Instagram Stories, giving her followers an update on her condition.
She detailed her plight: "I've been absolutely poleaxed by some sort of flu for the last couple of days. I know it doesn't look like it, but I do feel quite a lot better than I did, especially on Friday, but my voice is now taking a hit."
Alex sought remedies from her followers, disappointed with the past results. "I was just hoping that somebody would have some sort of remedy that helps bring your voice back."
With a podcast recording looming, she felt at a loss. "We've got a podcast to record tomorrow, which I don't think it's going to happen. I've tried steaming, I've tried white wine, vinegar, and you know, a bit of water and gargling it... nothing."
Her plea continued: "All the usual tricks, but if you know something specific that I might not have thought about, I'll try anything at this point," she persisted.
Furthermore, Alex mentioned: "Even communicating with the children is really hard because they're like, 'Oh mama,' I'm like, 'Stop doing that'."
The One Show airs weekdays from 7pm on BBC One and iPlayer
