Also, from a scientific point of view, there are solid reasons behind not eating rice on this day. Let us know why rice should not be eaten on this day.
The special significance of Ekadashi has been told in Hindu scriptures. According to Vishnu Purana, consuming rice on Ekadashi can reduce the virtuous fruit. Rice is considered to be the food of the gods, so it is not eaten on Ekadashi date. It is believed that a person who consumes rice on this day is hell and is born in the vagina of a creature creeping in the next life.
From a scientific point of view, the amount of water in rice is high. The effect of the moon is more on the water, so eating rice on Ekadashi can make the mind fickle. Due to this, attention does not take place in worship and the resolve of fasting can also be weak. This is the reason that from scientific point of view, it is not advisable to eat rice on this day.
Those who observe Ekadashi fast, they can do fruit on this day. It is considered auspicious to take a sattvic diet like Sabudana, water chestnut flour, kuttu flour, peanuts, milk and dry fruits. This keeps the body full of energy and also strengthens the resolve to fast.
