Bayern Munich have been banned from wearing their home kit in the due to the colour of their numbers.

The German giants will return to European action this week as they take on on Wednesday, but throughout the tournament they've had to wear their away strips when playing at the Allianz Arena. In their recent win over Slovan Bratislava in Bavaria they wore their beige kit.

imposed a ban and modifications will have to be made to their home shirt this wear if they want to wear red in the remaining games of this season's Champions League.

reports that European football's governing body have taken issue with the dark numbers on the red jersey, which they claim do not offer enough contrast for viewers. It is understood to be a violation of the visibility regulations.

It leaves Bayern having to wear either their black or a beige strips. When they head to Glasgow this week they will do so without their red kit, despite their being no kit clash with Celtic's green and red hoops.

He said: “This is the Champions League for real now and for Bayern we feel it’s impossible to fail. This squad believes we’ll be in the quarter-finals at least but we have to take care of this phase now. Celtic have a good squad and they’re in the same position; they want to win. It won’t be easy for us, but we’re prepared for these two matches.”
