The IPL 2025 schedule is already released and the 18th season of the grand cricketing extravaganza will start from March 22. Kolkata Knight Riders will take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the first match of the season at Eden Gardens.

Punjab Kings are set to kickstart their season against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad, while their first match at home will be against Rajasthan Royals on April 5.

The Kings had left their traditional home stadium in Mohali from last season. They will play three home matches in Dharamshala, while the other four will be played at the New Chandigarh Stadium.

What is New Chandigarh Stadium?

The Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, also known as the New Chandigarh Stadium, is located in Mullanpur in Punjab. It was inaugurated in 2021 and has since become the home ground for the Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Spread over 41.95 acres, the stadium has a seating capacity of 38,000 and features floodlights for day-night matches. It boasts a state-of-the-art herringbone drainage system, allowing water to clear within 25-30 minutes after rainfall, ensuring minimal interruptions during matches.

PBKS played five matches in IPL 2024 in the Mullanpur stadium and just managed one victory in those matches. They won the first encounter against Delhi Capitals and then lost four consecutive ones against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans.
