Punjab. Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) President Harjinder Singh Dhami has resigned on Monday. His resignation has come amid the ongoing tension between SGPC and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leadership. Harjinder Singh Dhami said that he is resigning from his post, expressing respects to Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh (Shri Akal Takht Sahib) Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh. He has also withdrawn his name from the Akal Takht Jathedar from a seven -member committee constituted on 2 December 2024 for the reorganization of SAD.

SGPC had removed Giani Harpreet Singh, Jathedar Gyani Harpreet Singh of Takht Damdama Sahib about a week ago. Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh of Akal Takht Sahib opposed the removal of Giani Harpreet Singh from the post. He wrote a post against this. And had denied the way of removing Harpreet Singh from the post.
Harjinder Singh Dhami has blamed this post for his resignation. Prior to the resignation, he read the lines of this post and said that the post shows that Giani Raghbir Singh is giving him the reason for removing Giani Harpreet Singh from the post. Dhami said that the day it was decided to remove Giani Harpreet Singh, 14 members were with him. And there was a conversation for one and a half hours. During this time everyone was given time to speak. So that anyone's thoughts do not remain. But the main face is. So morally I resign from this post.
Dhami further explained that there is differences in the functioning of SGPC. And it needs to work unitedly. He has also expressed concern over a separate Sikh committee being formed in Haryana. He said that solidarity is needed in the Sikh community, but due to the formation of a separate committee in Haryana, differences are increasing in the community.
Harjinder Singh Dhami has resigned, resigning from the US, expressing strong displeasure over the land of Sikhs returning from the US and demanded investigation and strict action against the culprits. Finally Dhami said that his life is like an open book. And he will always be devoted to the famine. During his resignation, he thanked his supporters and members of SGPC. The crisis for SGPC, SAD and Akal Takht has deepened since the resignation of Harjinder Singh Dhami.
