Obnews Automobile Desk: Nowadays many people get modified to make their car attractive, but do you know that there are very strict rules in India about vehicle modification? If you are also thinking of making any changes in your car, be careful, because it is illegal to modify the car without the permission of the RTO and you may have to face heavy fines or punishment.
According to Section 52 of the Motor Vehicle Act 1988, no vehicle owner can make any such change in his car, which does not match the information recorded on RC (Registration Certificate). If someone does so, legal action can be taken against him.
1. Change the color of the car
If a person changes the paint or color of his car, it is mandatory to inform the RTO first. Changing the color of the car without the approval of the RTO may impose heavy fines.
2. Fancy number plate installation
It is mandatory in India to install high security number plates, but many people use designers or fancy number plates. It is illegal and if such a number plate is found on your car, the challan can be cut immediately.
3. Getting wide tires
Some people get wide tires installed to give their car a sporty look, but it is also illegal. If a tire is installed apart from the tire specification recorded in RC, the RTO can take action and the challan can be deducted under the Motor Vehicle Act.

4. To install modified silencer
The government has banned loud silencer and modified exhaust system to control noise pollution. If you get a loud silencer in your bike or car, your car can also be confiscated and you can be fined heavy.
