Darts stars Daryl Gurney and Justin Hood slammed the 'freezing' conditions at the venue of Players Championship 4.

The at the Autotron in Rosmalen in the Netherlands. A total of 128 darts stars took part in the tournament, which was ultimately won by Chris Dobey.

Gurney was a surprise loser to George Killington in the last 64, while Hood was knocked out by Gerwyn Price in the last 16. Both players were left furious with PDC bosses though as they hit out at the cold conditions inside the arena.

Too low a temperature can affect the grip of the darts, with throwers depending on a stable environment for optimal performance. And Gurney pinned the blame for his defeat on the cold conditions.

He fumed on social media: "Really disappointed with the playing conditions today in Rosmalen. The venue is freezing, and no consideration of the location for players. A bad decision on the PDC’s behalf and the players deserve better!!!"

Gurney was not the only star to complain, with Hood also left unhappy after he was dumped out by Price. Hood fumed: "I'm not one to complain about venues or line-ups, but wow."

The PDC are yet to make a comment on Gurney and Hood's complaints. There will be 34 Championship events across the year, with the second part of the Rosmalen double-header taking place on Tuesday.

Unlike with other PDC events, fans do not attend Players Championship events. Last week, the PDC hit out at fans following Night 2 of the , which was marred by frequent booing and whistling.

"Following Thursday's Premier League Darts night in Glasgow, the PDC wishes to strongly reiterate that it does not condone any behaviour which can disrupt an event, such as whistling or booing when players are throwing," a PDC statement read.

"Every player goes on stage with the intention of performing to the best of their ability and providing an entertaining spectacle for all fans, whether in the venue or watching worldwide.

"As per the terms and conditions of entry to events, spectators who act inappropriately can be removed from the venue. The PDC works closely with Premier League venues, who have responsibility for crowd control, to take proactive and decisive action against those who behave inappropriately.

"The vast majority of fans who attend our sell-out events on a regular basis also condemn this behaviour and we will continue to promote a positive atmosphere which gives all players the opportunity to play to the best of their ability in every match."
