Fastag new rules have come into force in the country. The National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways have made these changes. New changes will make the toll pay easier and will help prevent fraud. According to the new rules, the transaction will be rejected when the fastag is inactive. But do you know how Fastag actually works? How is the money deducted from this? We are answering all these questions in this report and that too in simple language …

How does Fastag work?

Fastag is an electronic toll collection system, which uses RFID (radio frequency identification) technology for automatically cutting toll charges from vehicles. It has been implemented by the Government of India to reduce traffic at toll plazas and promote digital payments. In today's time, the fastag is becoming increasingly popular and it is growing every year.

Fastag work process

  • Fastag stickers – It is pasted on the front windscreen (from inside) of the vehicle.
  • RFID technology – An RFID scanner is installed on the toll plaza, which scans the fastgus stickers on the windscreen of the car.
  • Digital Payment – After scanning, the toll amount automatically deducts from your fastaging wallet or bank account.
  • SMS notification – On successful payment, an SMS alert comes on your mobile number, which contains information about the cut amount and the fasting balance.
  • The boom barrier opens – the barrier at the toll gate is automatically opened as soon as the payment is made, so that you can move forward without stopping.

Benefits of Fastag

  • It has the facility to cross the tollless toll, which saves you from getting stuck in the jam and saves time.
  • Digital payments end the cash hassle and the payment is cut directly from the bank account or wallet.
  • Fastag users get discounts on several toll plazas.
  • Traveling without stopping saves petrol/diesel and increases mileage.
  • You can see the remaining amount and transactions through the mobile app or bank website.

Fastag reduces the time taken on toll plazas, makes payment digital and convenient, and makes travel easier. If you do not yet have a fastag, apply for it soon so that you can travel without any hindrance.
