Instagram head Adam Mosseri has confirmed this feature through a post on Threads. He said that soon the Dislike option will be added to the comment section of both Instagram posts and reels. However, it will work just like YouTube's Dislike feature, where the count of how many people have disliked a post or comment will not be visible. Also, no one will be able to see who has disliked which comment.

This new Dislike button on Instagram can help make the platform more friendly and interactive. According to Moseri, this feature will give users a chance to tell without any negativity that they did not like a comment. This will promote healthy conversation on the platform and can also curb unnecessary trolling.

The feature is currently in the testing phase.

Instagram spokesperson Christine Pai told The Verge that the feature is currently in the testing phase and only a few users have got a chance to access it. However, he did not clarify when this feature will be fully rolled out and which users will get a chance to use it.

At present, Instagram is not giving any exact timeline regarding this feature, but the Dislike button can bring a big change to Instagram in the coming time. This will not only give users a new way to express their opinions but will also help in making the platform more healthy and engaging.
