Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has given important information about conducting CBSE 10th and 12th class board examinations twice a year. Know what changes will this bring to the education system.

The Union Education Ministry has already said that the 10th and 12th CBSE examinations will be conducted twice a year. Now the Education Ministry has held an important meeting regarding its preparations. This meeting was chaired by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan himself. The Secretary of School Education, the Chairman of CBSE, other officials of the Ministry and CBSE were present in this important meeting. In this meeting, detailed discussions were held on conducting CBSE examinations twice a year. Now the draft of these discussions will soon be put up for public consultation by CBSE.

Union Education Minister gave this information

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said on Tuesday that creating a stress-free environment for the students has been an important focus of the government. Examination reform is an important step in this direction. Taking a step forward, detailed discussions have been held on conducting CBSE examinations twice a year. It will be put up for public consultation by the CBSE. The Education Minister says that these reforms being made in school education are important steps towards the implementation of the key provisions of the NEP. This will help in reducing exam-related stress among students.

Will it be mandatory to give board exams twice?

After this process is completed, students of 10th and 12th CBSE board will get the opportunity to give board exams twice a year. However, giving board exams twice will not be a mandatory rule. Students can choose to appear for board exams twice as per their convenience or can give board exams only once. There will be a fixed gap of a few months between the two exams. Just as JEE Main exams are conducted twice, similarly 10th and 12th board exams will also be conducted twice a year.

These students will be able to give the exam again

Students who appeared in the first exam but feel that they have not performed well can also give the second exam to be held in the same academic year. That is, students who could not score well in the first exam will have another opportunity to appear in the exam to be held for the second time. The Ministry of Education says that in this way it is a completely choice based system.

Changes will also be made in the pattern of board exams

Apart from this, changes have also been made in the pattern of board exams. There will be more analytical, concept based questions in CBSE exams. According to experts, apart from this, the variety of questions in MCQs, short answers will remain the same. About 50 percent of the questions have been changed to MCQs and one to two marks. According to the Union Education Ministry, now the objective of board exams will be to evaluate the understanding of the subjects in the students. Experts believe that this new method will reduce the need for coaching and memorizing. The Union Education Ministry said that apart from board examinations, many other important changes have been made in the school education system. Under these changes, the choice of subjects will not be limited during studies in class 11th and 12th. Students will get the facility to choose subjects of their choice in class 11th and 12th.
