Emmerdale's Amy Walsh, famed for her portrayal of Tracy Metcalfe, has confessed to being 'beyond heartbroken' following the departure of a beloved co-star.

The hit ITV soap recently witnessed a devastating limo accident that resulted in multiple fatalities among the villagers, with Suzy Merton, portrayed by Martelle Edinborough, being the first to be written out earlier this week.

In poignant scenes broadcast on Wednesday night, viewers discovered that Leyla Harding had perished in the crash, marking the end of Roxy Shahidi's 16-year tenure on the show.

Following the emotional episode, 41 year old Roxy was flooded with touching messages from fellow cast members, which she then shared on her Instagram Story. Amy, aged 37, led the tributes by sharing a tear-jerking snippet of the scene, captioning it: "Beyond heartbroken" accompanied by heartbreak emojis.

She continued with a heartfelt message: "My beautiful angel, my bestie and my yogi queen. I love you, I miss you and I'm so grateful for you. Tis not goodbye, never will be.

"@RoxyShahidi Leyla Harding. The biggest loss for all of us and the rest of the world's gain. P.s how come you still look that beautiful when you're dying?"

Lisa Riley, who plays Mandy Dingle, also shared a sweet message as she penned: "Love this wonderful human to pieces. Thank you for your authentic YOU, your endless comedy, always, always, always making me laugh... and your cheeky twinkle!!

"Never ever ever change - you are FABULOUS, going to miss you loads @RoxyShahidi @Emmerdale can't wait to watch you fly #Emmerdale" with a heart emoji.

Lucy Pargeter, who plays Chas Dingle, added: "Beautifully acted and this woman is the most incredible strong friend and hilarious human. Gutted x."

Laura Norton, who plays Kerry Wyatt, wrote: "I sobbed [heart break emoji] the love is so real. @RoxyShahidi my queen @joewarren_plant you smashed it!"

Martelle Edinborough, who played Suzy, added: "Gonna miss this Queen so much!! @RoxyShahidi an absolute ICON! The best of the best!! xx."

Emmerdale airs every weekday at 19.30pm on ITV1, ITV X, STV and STV Player with an hour-long episode on Thursdays. It is also available each morning from 07.00am on ITVX.
