Most of these people use Google Pay for services like mobile recharge and bill payment. In today's time, people use UPI to pay facilities like petrol-diesel, mobile recharge, DTH recharge, bill payment, railway and flight tickets, movie tickets, fastags, gas booking, money transfer and metro card recharge.
In such a situation, many people do not know about those service of Google app, which are used to pay convenience fees on them. According to a report by The Economic Times, Google has charged the facility fee from users who used this service for free. This fee is charged to pay bills including LPG and electricity on small purchases.
In order to deposit electricity bills, Google Pay collected Rs 15 from the customer in the name of conveyance fees to deposit electricity bills. The user had paid electricity bills from Google Pay with the help of credit card. Google Pay described this recovery as debit and credit card transaction processing fees. Not only this, GST is also included in it.
Processing fees on payment with credit or debit card
The Economic Times report further stated that the processing fees will now be charged from users who pay electricity and gas bills from credit or debit cards. PhonePe and Paytm also charge similar fees for bill payment, recharge and other services. This fee can range from 0.5 to 1 percent of the transaction amount. It also includes GST on payment with credit and debit cards.
When does the convenience fees apply?
Explain that the convenience fees also applies when the payment is made through the RuPay card. It is noteworthy that users on Google should remember that the card payment is not allowed in some bill payment category.
When someone pays the bill through Google through a user credit or debit card, the fee is added to the total bill amount. However, if the bill payment is made using UPI facility, no processing fee is levied.
How to calculate processing fees
Convinance fees vary depending on many criteria, including the bill amount. According to Google Pay, “The exact fee will be displayed at the time of bill payment. How to check convenience fees or processing fees on Google Pay
You can see the convenience fees levied in your transaction history in Google app. The fee amount is listed with the bill payment transaction details. If your bill payment transaction fails, the convenience fee will be returned to your payment account within a specified time limit with the bill payment amount.
Change in convenience fee over time
There may be a change in convenience fee in future. The latest platform fee details were displayed while paying the bill on Google Pay app. You can find the details of the facility fee levied for each bill payment transactions in your transaction history within the payment app. The fee amount is displayed with the bill payment order.
