February 26, Chennai In the Lucifer trilogy, director Prithviraj Sukumaran portrays Zayed Masood, the mercenary commando who heads the killing unit of the notorious nexus Kureshi-Ab’ram. He has recently revealed that the second installment of the franchise, Empuraan, would highlight a different aspect of his character.

On Wednesday, Prithviraj’s role as Zayed Masood in the political action thriller L2: Empuraan (L2E) was unveiled by Malayalam actor Mohanlal.

Mohanlal posted, “Character No. 2. Prithviraj Sukumuran as Zayed Masood in #L2E #EMPURAAN,” on his X timeline. Additionally, he sent a link to a YouTube video where Prithviraj discussed the movie and his role in it.

“I am Prithviraj,” Prithviraj said. From the Lucifer series, Zayed Masood. We saw a notorious nexus that dominates the world’s gold and diamond commerce in the first installment of this series, Lucifer. Kureshi-Abr’am was the nexus, and a mercenary commando headed its hit unit. Zayed Masood was presented to you in this manner. And in that movie, you only saw one side of Zayed Masood.

“Zayed has a story,” Prithviraj stated, pointing out that, like all the other characters in the Murali Gopy-written series, Zayed Masood has a history. It was his own universe. Which narrative was it? How did that world look? What had happened to him? What was Khureshi-Ab’ram’s way into that world? All of this is briefly covered in the second section of Empuraan.

Prithviraj recalled that Lucifer presented viewers with a complicated universe, and that complexity would only grow in the second installment.

“There are more characters now. You’ll see even more of the locations and scenes where the tale takes place. Nevertheless, we firmly think that the movie keeps a coherent plot throughout. When others see it, I hope they feel the same way,” he remarked.

“That was the belief we walked away with after watching the movie,” Prithviraj said, referring to the impression that viewers had after seeing the first part of Lucifer, which introduced them to the Khureshi-Ab’ram underworld mega syndicate, that there was no force in the world powerful enough to defeat them. Was it real, though? Or was it an incorrect presumption?

The Mohanlal-starring Actor Prithviraj is the director of L2: Empuraan (L2E), which Antony Perumbavoor and Subaskaran co-produce. Deepak Dev composed the soundtrack for the movie, while Murali Gopy wrote the script. Sujith Vaassudev did the film’s cinematography, while Akhilesh Mohan did the editing.

As you may remember, actor Prithviraj said early on in the movie that Mohanlal would be the hero of a commercial blockbuster. For his part, Murali Gopy has said that this will be the second installment in a trilogy of films.

In only eight days, “Lucifer,” the first installment of the series that debuted in 2019 and included actor Prithviraj Sukumaran as director, became a box office success. It became the highest-grossing Malayalam movie ever, earning nearly Rs 200 crore.

It goes without saying that anticipation for the sequel, which is set to premiere on March 27 of this year, has skyrocketed.
