Cole Palmer was astounded to find out one of his family members had a UK number one hit decades before the star was born.
The 22-year-old enjoyed a chat with British DJ Kenny Allstar for TNT Sports this week as the pair delved into the family history of the English international. The Radio 1Xtra Rap Show host revealed to Palmer that his great uncle scored a No. 1 song on the charts back in 1974.
After telling the midfielder that he's aware of "musical royalty" in his family, Allstar pulled out a vinyl record which turned out to be from the band 'Sweet Sensation' that included St. Clair Palmer. "This record is from a band called Sweet Sensation," the DJ explained.

"Your great uncle was in this band. They had a No1 in the 1970s. This vinyl here went No1 here in the UK." A flabbergasted Palmer admitted: "I didn't even know that" as he was then shown a clip of the Manchester-formed band performing the hit song 'Sad Sweet Dreamer' on Top of the Pops.
It was Palmer's great uncle who was the lead singer but the football star was unable to identify him on the screen. He then revealed that he was somewhat aware of the history surrounding the song but never searched for it. "He's too young there I can't recognise him," he confessed.
"Obviously people in my family have talked about. But I've never listened to it or researched it." With the Palmer name known in UK music circles, the Blues superstar has been making sure it's now known internationally thanks to his footballing exploits.

Talking to his star player after Chelsea's 4-0 win over on Tuesday, the Italian lifted the lid on what he told Palmer. "I said he has been lucky in his career," he said. "He has shared changing rooms with top players and he knows they go through bad moments. Keep working, keep laughing, enjoy your football."
