Presenter brought some bad luck to one player on a brand new episode of The Chase this evening. The chipper host welcomed four new contestants to the as they took on Darragh Ennis together.

Stephen from the Wirral, Rosemary from Buckingham, Georgie from Westgate-on-Sea and Fionn from Nottingham hoped that they could test their wits successfully to take home a cash prize. However, it was bad news for Stephen who went home empty handed.

And then Brad delivered more bad news as Rosemary took on the cashbuilder round. After answering five questions correctly already, with just seconds to go, the show host asked: "In what period TV drama did Hugh Bonneville and Samantha Bond play siblings?"

The contestant took a second too long to think about it, as she ummed before answering: "Downton Abbey." But as the answer left her lips, the klaxon sounded - with Bradley being forced to interrupt.

He sadly informed her: "Just out of time. Downton Abbey was indeed the answer, but just out of time. Bad luck."

Softening the blow, as her cashbuilder total stopped at £5,000 rather than £6,000, Bradley continued: "But that's very good, five grand."

When it came to making a major decision at the offer table, Rosemary teased both Darragh and viewers at home as she asked if she should "blow caution to the wind", while seemingly contemplating the mouth-watering higher offer of £55,000.

She asked herself: "I'm so tempted. What do I do? Do I throw caution to the wind?" Darragh urged her to do so as he said: "Absolutely!"

The player continued: "Or do I get back to the two people who are there? Do you know what... I'm going for the five."

The Chaser couldn't believe it as he threw his head back in shock and puffed out a breathe of air. He shared that he "really thought she was going for it" as he added: "I think you might have been able to make that."

Eventually Rosemary made it back to the bench, securing a place in the final Chase and adding an impressive £5,000 to the cash pot.

Fans on social media applauded her for playing a good game. On X (formerly Twitter), one wrote: "Looks like this game is becoming Rosemary's baby. #thechase."

Another added: "Rosemary knows how to play the game #thechase," while a third said: "Oh what a TEASE #thechase."
