Guwahati : Assam Chief Minister Himanta Viswa Sharma has organized Investors Summit to promote investment in his state. Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, who arrived to attend this program, has said that work on the Rs 80,000 crore road project in Assam will start soon. He has said that under this initiative, main projects including a tunnel under the Brahmaputra River, an elevated corridor in Kaziranga National Park and the Guwahati Ring Road will be launched.
Addressing the session on the road, railway and river infrastructure at the 'Advantage Assam 2.0 Business Summit', he said that by 2029, projects of Rs 3 lakh crore will be completed in the state under his ministry by the year 2029. He said that work on projects worth Rs 60,000 crore in the state is already going on and they are being completed in various stages.
The minister said that these include projects that will not only improve contact within the state but will also promote road communication with Tripura and Nagaland. Gadkari said that other projects worth Rs 80,000 crore are going to start in the state. This includes a tunnel of Rs 15,000 crore under the Brahmaputra connecting Numaligarh and Dholpur, an elevated corridor of Rs 6,000 crore in Kaziranga National Park and the Guwahati Ring Road connecting Numaligarh and Dholpur.
He said that the 'Multi-model' logistics center in Jogighopa is almost complete and it can be opened soon. Gadkari emphasized its role in Fuel Creation and other economic sectors, referring to the capacity of Assam in the bamboo -based new era industry.
Gadkari claimed that almost all the projects sought by the state government have been approved by his ministry. He said that the development of the Northeast is the most important priority of Prime Minister Narendra Modi -led government, as is clear from adequate investment in this sector since 2014.

Gadkari emphasized the need for capital investment in business, as employment will be generated only when investment comes and employment generation will improve the economical condition of the people. The minister has said that infrastructure is the most important for the development of the state. Improvement in connectivity will also benefit other areas.
