Midsomer Murders legend has shared his favourite episode of the . The 81-year-old actor previously shared that one of his most rated episodes is a classic.

Midsomer Murders: John Nettles' Favourite Episodes on ITVX lists from season 4 as one of his most liked. The 2001 episode sees a man found in the middle of a circle, naked, with two puncture wounds on his back and the back of his head shaved.

Later, a second body is found in a similar fashion as local UFOlogist Lloyd Kirby (played by Kenneth Colley) preaches that extra-terrestrials are at work but Nettle's character, DCI Tom Barnaby, is not convinced.

The first victim, Ronnie Stokes, was a criminal with several serious convictions for assault while the second, Eddie Field, was a local burglar who had only just been released from prison and who may have committed another burglary the night of his death.

The detective found that both men had been electrocuted and were killed elsewhere - with their bodies moved to the crop circles.

As a third victim is discovered, Barnaby must discover who is responsible - or if extra-terrestrial powers are truly at work.

It comes as John has broken his silence after it was confirmed that DCI Tom Barnaby would be returning to the series. He quit the role back in 2011 and was soon replaced by his cousin John Barnaby, played by Neil Dudgeon.

Now the classic drama will be returning - but to the stage rather than the small screen. The stage show begins in October and is an adaptation of the hit ITV detective series.

When speaking about his character's return, John told Hello: "Such anticipation! I'm thrilled to hear that the exploits of those in Midsomer's Badger's Drift are being brought to the stage. How exciting!"

The tour will open at Richmond Theatre on 24 October and run until April 2026. However, who will play Tom Barnaby and his sidekick, Sergeant Gavin Troy, has not been confirmed.

Elsewhere, Neil Dudgeon recently confirmed filming for the upcoming Midsomer Murders series is being filmed next month.
