The state government has taken a historic decision to take power generation to new heights in Bihar. A 3 × 800 MW (total 2400 MW) capacity of green field thermal power plant is going to be built in Pirpainti of Bhagalpur district of the state. This Pawar plant to be built at a cost of Rs 21,400 crore will be the largest investment of a private sector in the state.

This Pawar plant will benefit 13 crore people of Bihar. Rather, the electricity bill of common people will also decrease. Also, the industries of Bihar will also get wings. The construction of the thermal power plant has been approved. Under the project, Bihar State Power Produce Company Limited has been selected as the nodal agency. Which will take full responsibility for the implementation of the project including the tender process.

Result of Nitish Kumar's visionary attitude

This project is the result of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's visionary energy policy. After the commencement of work on this scheme, Bihar will become attractive for investors. Energy Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav said- “A favorable environment has been created for investors in the state under the leadership of the Chief Minister. This project will not only provide quality electricity to the people of Bihar, but will also reduce electricity rates. This will prove to be a milestone in the industrialization of the state. "

Electricity supply will be cheap and uninterrupted

People of Bihar will get electricity at constant and affordable rates from this project. Let us tell you that the state is dependent on other states for electricity. Bihar has to buy electricity from outside. With the completion of this project, our dependence of purchasing power from other states will decrease. This will also reduce the cost of electricity.

Confirming this historic decision, Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena said, “To ensure the energy security of the state, the government has decided to set up a new 2400 MW thermal power plant. The allocation of coal for this has already been done. "

Energy Secretary Pankaj Kumar Pal said that the solar power project was proposed in Pirpainti earlier, but after the technical survey, a proposal of thermal power plant was approved in view of the proximity of the coal source and the status of the land.

Employment and industrialization will get a boost

This project will not only reduce electricity rates but will also create large -scale employment opportunities in Bihar. Thousands of people will get direct and indirect employment during the construction work. Apart from this, the establishment of industrial units will be encouraged. Which will attract investment in the state.

Central government also approval, Bihar will become energy hub

The Ministry of Power of India, Government of India has also approved the tender process of this project under Tariff Policy 2016. In the budget of the Central Government, Rs 21,400 crore was announced for this project in 2024. This initiative of the Bihar government will prove to be a milestone towards making the state energy self -reliant. As soon as this project is completed, a new chapter of electricity supply will start in Bihar, which will give new pace to the development of the state.
