Mumbai: Ekadashi fasting holds immense significance in Hinduism, as it is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Like the Pradosh Vrat, Ekadashi is observed twice a month, during which devotees perform rituals and prayers to Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Narayana. According to religious beliefs, observing Ekadashi helps in attaining salvation, absolving sins, and fulfilling all desires.

For those seeking prosperity and positive outcomes in life, Ekadashi fasting is considered highly beneficial. As March approaches, many devotees may wish to observe this sacred fast. Here’s a detailed look at the Ekadashi dates in March 2025 and their significance.

Ekadashi in March 2025

The first Ekadashi of March will be observed during the Shukla Paksha (waxing phase of the moon) of the Phalguna month. This Ekadashi is known as Amalaki Ekadashi or Rangbhari Ekadashi. The second Ekadashi falls during the Krishna Paksha (waning phase of the moon) of the Chaitra month, known as Papmochani Ekadashi.

1. Amalaki ekadashi date and significance

According to the Vedic Panchang, the Shukla Paksha Ekadashi of Phalguna month will begin on March 9, 2025, at 7:45 AM and end on March 10, 2025, at 7:44 AM. Since the fast is observed based on the sunrise time, Amalaki Ekadashi will be observed on March 10, 2025.

Religious texts state that observing Amalaki Ekadashi helps in attaining liberation (moksha) and brings devotees closer to Lord Vishnu. It is believed that fasting on this day removes obstacles from life and brings peace and prosperity.

2. PapMochani Ekadashi Date and Significance

As per the Vedic Panchang, the Krishna Paksha Ekadashi of Chaitra month will commence on March 25, 2025, at 5:05 AM and conclude on March 26, 2025, at 3:45 AM. Based on sunrise timing, Papmochani Ekadashi will be observed on March 25, 2025.

According to mythology, observing Papmochani Ekadashi destroys sins accumulated over past lifetimes. It is believed that devotees who observe this fast receive divine blessings from Lord Vishnu and attain success in all endeavours.

Both Amalaki Ekadashi and Papmochani Ekadashi hold deep spiritual significance for devotees of Lord Vishnu. Observing these fasts with devotion is believed to bring peace, prosperity, and ultimate salvation. Devotees should follow proper rituals and seek divine blessings to reap the full benefits of these sacred days.
