New DelhiNew Delhi,Former England captain Kevin Pietersen was appointed as a mentor of Delhi Capitals before the upcoming IPL season on Thursday. Pietersen, 44, has returned to the team that he captained in 2014. This is Peterson's first coaching assignment in the IPL, where he participated as a player from 2009 to 2016. “I am very excited to come back to Delhi! I have the cutest memories of time spent with Delhi. I love the city, I love fans, and I will make every effort to support the franchise in our attempt to win the title in 2025,” Pietersen wrote on X. Peterson, who played 200 T20s with 5,695 runs, participated in 36 IPL matches, in which he scored 1001 runs in his tenure with Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Pune franchise.

In DC, he will join Hemung Badani, who was made head coach in October last year, assistant coach Matthew Mot, bowling coach Munaf Patel and Cricket Director Venugopal Rao. DC has never won the IPL title, he reached the finals in 2020, where he lost to Mumbai Indians. He finished sixth in the previous edition, after which he left his captain Rishabh Pant. He retained Akshar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Triston Stabs and Abhishek Porel.
